Jeff,

You are right about fish. They do grow to the size of their tank. So we have to create a new mental tank in our minds first...is that where they coined the phrase "think tank"?

I'm one of Mark Terrell's students, learning how to blog. If you'd like to visit my blog and leave a comment, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks a bunch.

Really enjoyed this post, good imagery. I was speaking to Bryan McCrae from Cognitive Sales Consulting the other day for a feature I'm writing on sales growth, and he was saying how important it is to continue looking to grow your business throughout the recession. In the context of the Fish Tank Theory, I would say perhaps build a tunnel between your current tank and your new one, send your baby fish through it one at a time, and make sure the marketing strategy you are using to achieve growth is producing the kind of results that will make your business fit the bigger tank you have in your mind.

The Fish Tank Theory makes so much sense. It is a great way of visualizing realistic growth and change. I know that the people I work with will love the imagery just like I did.
